Peanut Chutney

Peanut Chutney, a quick chutney recipe which is an excellent substitute for coconut chutney. This chutney is great with idli and dosa.
Roasted and skinned peanuts are grinded along with green/red chili and tamarind and tempered with urad dal. 



 Ingredients:
  • Peanuts - 1 cup
  • Green chilies - 5 or according to your taste
  • Tamarind - small ball size of walnut
  • Salt to taste
  • For tempering:
    • Oil - 2 tbsp
    • Black gram seeds/Urad dal- 1 tbsp
    • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
    • Jeera - 1 tsp

Preparation:
       Roast the peanuts and remove their skin. U can store them for months.

Method:

  • In a mixer jar take peanuts, chilies, salt and grind to a fine powder.
  • To this add tamarind, required amount of water and grind to a smooth paste.
  • Transfer to a bowl.
  • For tempering : Heat oil in a pan. Add jeera , mustard seeds.
  • When it splutters add black gram dal , curry leaves and fry for 2 minutes.
  • Pour it over the chutney & serve.
  • Enjoy with idli or dosa.
