Brown chana sundal recipe is an easy brown chickpeas recipe often made during ganesh chaturthi or navratri. This is very light snack recipe.
Chana is soaked and pressure cooked and tempered with dals, onion, red/green chili and garnished with grated coconut and coriander leaves.

- Brown chana - 250 gms
- Onion - 1
- Chana Dal - 2 tbsp
- Urad Dal - 1 tsp
- Red Chili - 4
- Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
- Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
- Coriander Leaves for garnishing
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
Method :
- Soak chana for 5 to 6 hours. Cook it in pressure cooker with required amount of water and salt.
- Strain the chana and reserve the stock for preparing rasam or soup.
- In a pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds.
- When it splutters add chana dal, urad dal and fry till dals are crispy.
- Now add chopped onion, broken red chili or slit green chili, curry leaves and fry till onions are translucent.
- Switch off the flame and let it cool for sometime.
- Add in cooked chana and mix well.
- Add coconut, coriander leaves. Stir and serve.
